Perhaps the highlight of the Vikings' year was reaching the finals in the recent Frank Sabatino tournament in Oakville. The Vikings outscored their first three opponents by a 25-1 margin to win their pool in round-robin play, then defeated the Oakville Wolfpack in the semis before losing to the Oakville Lumberjacks in the final. The Hornets' loss came at the hands of the Stoney Creek Sabres, Oakville's first defeat since December tournament play and the first time it had been blanked all year. Stoney Creek's goal came on a fluke bounce off a Hornets player. The following day, Oakville rebounded to easily down Flamborough 5-1. Christina Scanlon and MacKenzie Sutherland scored two goals each and Sydney Davison added a single. Saturday, the Hornets traveled to the Gretzky Sportsplex in Brantford and routed the Ice Cats 9-0, despite playing without high-scoring centre Scanlon and two defencemen.
