The rap sheets were almost as funny as Partridge, who acted as emcee, and the criminal nicknames given to the jailbirds. Among the most humourous was Kevin `The Green Machine' Flynn who was charged with overzealous conservation and the rifling of blue boxes. "Didn't someone see you throwing a coffee cup out the window?" taunted Partridge. "This wasn't just on Town property, but you were observed on someone's porch. That's private property and going a little too far, don't you think?" asked Mulvale during Flynn's bail hearing. She noted he had made an immediate confession, but did not seem contrite. "It was a good night," retorted an unrepentant Flynn. Mulvale said it was good that Flynn was caught before GreenCarts came in so that he wouldn't gain attention by sticking his nose in people's organics. Flynn ultimately raised a whopping $2,500 for his "incarceration." "I've got good friends," said Flynn while being carted away. In fact, an in-person delivery of $1,000 -- and a box of chocolates to sweeten the deal for Judge Mulvale -- was delivered from First Canadian Title. Flynn raised another $500 through the sheet metal workers' union. Veteran Town Councillor Ralph Robinson, who was there to answer for annoying Town of Oakville staff for more than a quarter century, had a ball as he was escorted by not one, but two police officers -- Constables Carla Draper and Mike Dinsmore -- during his bail hearing. Dubbed `The Tormentor' by his jailors -- and a Soprano by Partridge -- Robinson -- who'd been rounded up along with Ward 5 Councillor Jeff Knoll and Ward 2 Councillor Cathy Duddeck at Town Hall, raised $1,635 before he was allowed to go free. Ward 5 Councillor Jeff `The Producer' Knoll who owns Encore Cinemas was accused of scalping theatre tickets and dipping into the staff's coffee fund. Mulvale noted popcorn refills at the discount theatre are free and was lenient as she noted Knoll was stealing in an effort to buy transit passes for the less fortunate. Knoll said he would lobby Flynn while in jail, as well as raising his bail. Upon Flynn's release, Mulvale asked if Knoll had done his work at lobbying, and Flynn responded, "Yes, in the shower." And the hilarity ensued all day long. Lynne `The Accessorizor' Calabrese, manager of CLEO, was arrested for wearing white after Labour Day. Kerr Village BIA chief Richard `The Improver' Messer was charged with bribing Santa to win best float in the Santa parade. Hockey referee Chuck `The Exterminator' MacGregor was accused of officiating without seeing. American Women's Club president Sue `The Stitch' Kemmerer was said to have worn red, white and blue on Canada Day. Ward 3 Councillor Cathy `The Refinisher' Duddeck was named a conspirator to create laughter. Lawyer Jarvis `The Procrastinator' Sheridan was accused of extreme knowledge of the law and Halton MPP Ted Chudleigh faced a charge of buying an old police car and painting it a different colour. Oakville Deputy Fire chief Bob `The Extinguisher' Sumak was charged with illegal exposure in the firefighters' calendar and unlawfully wielding a fire hose in public. Mulvale noted during Sumak's bail hearing that she'd attended a firefighter calendar event and admonished Sumak that firefighters were to be role models for children and to "suppress not create riotous reaction among the town's womenfolk." Halton Police Sgt. Jackie `The Designer' Gordon was accused of accessorizing her uniform with Prada while Joan `The Instigator' · CARPET · ORIENTAL RUGS · VINYL · HARDWOOD · CERAMICS · CARPET · CARPET & AREA RUG CLEARANCE Persian, Indian, Chinese, Designer, Silks, Samples and Discontinued Rugs Carpet CLEARANCE HUNDREDS colours OF AREA Clearance Selected in stockonly starting @ Hard-wearing Berber RUGS $3.99* sq. ft.
