26 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday February 22, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com What do you bring to the table? PHOTO SUBMITTED BY KAREN LOVE ITALIAN BREEZE: This photograph was taken on a breezy afternoon at a lakeside outdoor café near Orvieto in Italy where ducks walked by in a line. It provided a lazy pause in life, over pasta and wine, prior to a drive all around the lake, that included stops at a couple of medieval towns along the way. What fascinated me about the table top was the intricate play of light and shadow formed by the objects -- some of which were my partner's hands and white-shirted arms -- and the surreal atmosphere formed by juxtaposition. What do you bring to the table? is a continuing series of photos submitted to Oakville Galleries to run in conjunction with its current exhibit What We Bring to the Table in Gairloch Gardens until June 6.The exhibit features art by artists Laura Letinsky, Bettina Hoffmann, Patrick Faigenbaum and Instant Coffee. Franchise Education Seminars launch Feb. 26 at The UPS Store Oakville's UPS Store is launching its series of Franchise Education Seminars on Feb. 26 with the '10 Worst Franchise Nightmares' to kick things off. The UPS Store, formerly Mail Boxes etc., is hosting a new series aimed at helping potential franchise owners avoid potential pitfalls in their new businesses. The monthly series will begin Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at The UPS Store offices, 505 Iroquois Shore Rd. "The 10 Best Things to Watch for in a Franchise" will be covered on March 18 in the next session at The UPS Store offices. "At The UPS Store, we believe we have a mission to educate our business partners fully and completely before they join our program," said Dan Blum, The UPS Store Director of Franchise Development. "The first part of entrepreneurial success is based on our globally-respected brand, along with a pioneering network that has led the industry for 25 years. Our new seminars, however, are now the missing link between formal information and what a franchisee really needs to know. "Franchising is the best way to find entrepreneurial success, especially for a new Canadian." Blum added. "We feel that these seminars will help anyone interested in franchising to make the right choices." Call 905-338-9754 for information.
