The local campus will present a benefit production on Sunday, March 2, featuring graduating and second year students from the Music Theatre Performance Program. This is the first annual Stepping Up performance to raise money for a Student Emergency Fund to support Music Theatre and Technical Production students during a time of crisis. Along with Technical Production students, Music Theatre Students will be presenting personal highlights from the world of song and dance. Sunday's performance will highlight selections from the students' dance and vocal critiques. Over the past 30 years, Sheridan's Music Theatre/Performance Program has earned the reputation of being the finest professional music theatre program in Canada. "It's the calibre and the quality of education that they're passing on to these kids both in the performance and on the production side," says Michael Caine of White Oaks Communication Group. "The results are seen in the fact that these kids that graduate from this program are snapped up often before graduation." "This performance is a chance for these students to pass something forward," added Patricia Lackey, a recent graduate of Music Theatre. "The proceeds from Stepping Up will benefit students in these programs long after these guys have graduated."
