www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday February 29, 2008 - 41 Mom's is no secret Oakville's Julie Aurora will be featured on an episode of CBC's Fortune Hunters that airs Saturday, March 1. The show follows entrepreneurs who are starting up their own businesses based on current trends, and Saturday's episode will follow Aurora's initiative in creating Mom's Healthy Secrets cereal. The cereal is based on her mom Neera's recipe and the latest findings on healthy foods. Fortune Hunters was created by Dianne Buckner, host of Dragons' Den and long-time host of CBC News: Venture. Every week, the show is divided into three segments: in the first, Buckner introduces a trend for the week and profiles a Canadian company a Fortune Hunter attempting to cash in on that trend. The March 1 episode is dubbed Perfect Health, and will feature Aurora, and Goodlife Fitness' Patch Evans. Fortune Hunters airs on CBC Newsworld Saturday at 6:30 p.m. featuring Aurora. This episode, filmed at Whole Foods and Timothy's in Oakville, will feature Mom's Healthy Secrets next evolution -- new cereals and new packagAurora making a presentation to Longo's, where the line of products is picked up. Mom's Healthy Secrets is available at local retailers in Oakville including A&P/Dominion, Candy Cupboard, Longo's, Sobeys, Organic Garage, The Barn and Whole Foods. "This really started because of the Oakville community," said Aurora, who said CBC pursued the story because she's a young entrepreneur. One morning Aurora awoke and told herself she was going to start selling her mom's cereal. Friends, neighbours and many of the people taking yoga classes Neera instructed started trying her cereal, and then kept coming back for more. "It got to the point where I was leaving bags outside the front door for people to pick up." Mom, a native of India, began making the cereal for her own family. On each box are tips including adding hot water, hot or cold milk or yogurt to sweeten the taste. A portion of the proceeds from Mom's Healthy Secrets goes to the Canadian Cancer Society.
