10 - The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday March 1, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Unforgettable Eastview class trip to Muskoka Woods By Marlee Maracle GRADE 7, EASTVIEW PUBIC SCHOOL hat amazing memories. I will cherish of the three days I spent in Muskoka Woods. Wednesday, Feb. 20 was the day that all of the Eastview Grade 7s left for a fun-filled trip to Muskoka Woods on Lake Rosseau. It was a time I got to be with all of my friends, be outside and experience some of the most beautiful and breathtaking sights of nature. It was unforgettable. Everyone on the trip got to experience things that most of us have never done before; snowshoeing, cross country-skiing, orienteering, broomball, and most of all, the giant swing, were some daily activities enjoyed by all in the great outdoors. Rock climbing, inline rollerblading and radio broadcasting were activi- W ties that were held indoors. When we arrived at Muskoka Woods, the energy and excitement on the bus that everyone had was incredible. We were immediately put into activity groups and then introduced to our group leaders, who were absolutely great. After a long day filled with many activities, all the boys and girls were brought to the gym to play basketball or volleyball for Think Green. Breathe Easy. I think we all learned that after a long day of being outside it was extremely hard to pull an "allnighter" or even try to stay up past midnight. The second day at Muskoka Woods only got better. A dance that was held in the Music Hall on Thursday night and it was the most outrageous dance ever. Everyone was dancing and having a ball, and whoever didn't want to be at the dance had the option to go to the games room instead. After the dance, everyone gathered in the dinning hall for our snack before bedtime. The most important item that I brought on the trip, and that everyone was required to bring, was a journal. This was really helpful to me because each night I was able to write down my thoughts and experiences from the day's events. The most amazing sight that I got to witness was the lunar eclipse. It started on Wednesday night at around 8 p.m. To walk out into an open, snowy, calm and quiet field and witness something so beautiful was amazing and unforgettable. There were no clouds that night in the sky, only stars and the brilliant brightness of the moon shinning above. It was incredible being outside and somewhere where it was so calm and quiet. I will never forget my time at Muskoka Woods. It was by far the best field trip I've ever been on. I'm really happy that Eastview gave us the opportunity to be part of such a fun-filled learning experience. On behalf of all the Grade 7 students from Eastview, I would like to give a special thanks to Mr. Magill, Ms. Cheevers, Ms. Lj and Mr. Hawkins for coming on the trip and making it enjoyable and unforgettable. I would like to say thanks to Kevin, my group leader at Muskoka Woods, and the staff for making this trip possible. Thanks for the memories.
