After Iroquois Ridge edged the Lions 1-0 to tie the series -- Aldershot's first loss of the season -- the two teams immediately played a 13-minute scoreless sudden-death overtime. Iroquois Ridge's Amanda Ruprecht then decided the issue with the only goal of the shootout, scoring on her team's second chance. "I didn't want to hear anyone saying where I should shoot (when her turn came up)," said Ruprecht, 17, playing her last high school game as one of the few veterans left from last year's team. "I saw the one side open and I tried to shoot it as fast as I could." Goalies stole the show for the most part Thursday, with Iroquois Ridge's Alia Tewari shutting out the Lions when one goal in regulation or overtime would have given Aldershot the Halton crown. Aldershot's Nicole Fox, Jenny Greenlee and Jenn Crawford all failed to beat Tewari in the shootout as the Lions, as home team, elected to shoot first. Ruprecht, however, would later have the last laugh in the shootout, scoring the lone goal to give Ridge its second Halton girls' hockey championship in as many years.
