The team wil compete and train in Alberta, British Columbia and down the western coast of the United States. The program's goal is to develop elite level athletes and expose them to top American and Canadian universities. Defensa finished third in the last under-15 Tier 1 event, and has qualified for both the U15 and U16 Tier 1 provincial championships. ENDING THE SEASON WITH GOLD: Pictured clockwise from left, Rebecca Bukovcan, Talia Moum and Moriah Chiang were three of the Oakville Skating Club's eight gold-medal winners at the recent March Mania figure skating competition in Milton. Daphne Boehmer, Nicole Rodriguez, Jenna Rolland-Mills, Emily Fox and Ellen Mays also won gold at March Mania, the final competition of the season. Natasha Beaudoin, Brianna Gale, Victoria Jenkins and Cydnee Colenutt added silver-medal showings, while Robin Zenker, Rachael Jones, Julia Mogus and Jamie Hicks each claimed bronze. With the competitive season now over, the Oakville Skating Club is now preparing for its biannual ice show. This year's show, entitled OSC Celebrates Broadway, will feature four performances from April 4-6 at Oakville Arena. Tickets are available through the club. Polyanthus Landscapes Ice faces stiff challenge in second round After a surprising first-round upset of the Whitby Wolves, the Oakville Ice will face an even more daunting task in the second round of the Provincial Women's Hockey League playoffs. The 12th-seeded Ice will open a best-of-five series with the Stoney Creek Sabres today (Saturday) in Stoney Creek. The starting time of the game was not available on the league's website. Winners of the league's five second-round series will advance to the final weekend, along with host Aurora.
