18 - The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday March 19, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com World-renowned chef to chronicle The Islands Project Oakville Public Library, in partnership with Oakville Galleries, is preparing to welcome world renowned chef Michael Stadtlander as he leads a screening and discussion of his recent documentary, The Islands Project. The Islands Project documentary chronicles Stadtlander's journey to four British Columbia islands with his family and kitchen crew on a biodiesel/solar powered bus. Returning to the land that nurtured his first days as a chef, Stadtlander and his kitchen crew create six extraordinary dinners with the local community including environmentalists, farmers, artists, oyster cultivators and loggers. This special presentation is one of two lectures offered in partnership with Oakville Galleries designed to compliment the exhibit What We Bring to the Table, which opened at Gairloch Gardens in February and continues through June. Novelist and cultural critic for the Globe and Mail, Kate Taylor will be featured in the next lecture in May (more details will be available online or at your library branch). The event with Stadtlander will take place in the South Atrium at Oakville Town Hall located at 1225 Trafalgar Rd. on April 15 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event cost $5 and will be available at your local library branch as of March 24.
