The meeting drew about 400 Joshua Creek parents, who were concerned about busing many of their children to Falgarwood next year. None of us wants to leave for another school." Joshua Creek parent Niki Jandrew Joshua Creek School is one big happy family that wants to stay that way. "Just leave it as it is. None of us wants to leave for another school," mother of three Niki Jandrew told Steven Parfeniuk, superintendent of business for the Halton District School Board. Jandrew and 400 other concerned parents packed nearby Falgarwood School Tuesday night (March 18), which is where some of their children may be directed, if trustees approve the board's current proposal. Right now, the Arrowhead Road JK-Grade 8 school is bursting at the seams with 709 students and 12 portables on site to accommodate the overflow. Next year, enrolment is projected to go up dramatically to 916 requiring a total of 18 portables. These figures represent a nearly two-fold dramatic rise and it's anticipated to increase further with another 500 new homes expected to be built in the area in the near future. But Jandrew, a parent volunteer for the past three years, said that Joshua Creek is already a community school despite its overcapacity. For her part, the mother of three directs traffic at the school in the morning and afternoon daily. Conversely, Falgarwood and Sheridan schools aren't packed. Falgarwood has 341 students and room for 501 spaces while Sheridan has 202 students and space for 256.
