www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday March 28, 2008 - 19 AUTHOR'S VISIT: South Africa's 1987 Woman of the Year nominee and awardwinning author Rozena Maart will be stopping in Oakville on Saturday to showcase her latest work. Maart will read a passage from her new novel The Writing Circle and discuss its themes, which deal specifically with women's rights, violence against women and the social injustices present in South Africa. The Writing Circle tells the story of five Cape Town women struggling with the fallout after one of them kills her rapist. Maart was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa and was nominated for the country's Woman of the Year award in 1987 for her work in the area of violence against women and for starting the first black feminist organization, Women Against Repression. Maart will arrive at Chapters in the Oakville Town Centre, located at 310 North Service Rd.
