www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday April 11, 2008 - 5 Police have lengthy list of witnesses to interview Continued from page 1 following day when the victim's family sought medical attention for him that the true extent of the boy's injuries were discovered. On April 2, Halton police arrested a 15-year-old Oakville youth, who cannot be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, and charged him with aggravated assault and breach of recognizance. Police noted on Wednesday that about 30 more witnesses needed to be interviewed before they could make a determination as to whether additional charges would be added in light of the victim's death. The 15-year-old was scheduled to appear in a Milton Court for a bail hearing this morning. At Blakelock, the gravity of what had happened greeted staff and students during Wednesday morning classes when the school's principal broke the sombre news over the P.A. system that the student had passed away. Students are remembering their fallen classmate as a fun, outgoing person who deserved none of what happened to him that night. "He was just a good kid, he didn't start fights at all," said one student. "The school's a real mess right now." Another student who had a regular class with the victim had similar feel- ings. "He was a really nice guy, very approachable," she said. "He was one of those people you could talk to and he would actually listen to you and he could talk to you about any subject. It's really sad what happened." Denton noted that the Tragic Events Response Team is at Blakelock to offer grief counselling and support to anyone at the school who requests it.
