www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday May 14, 2008 - 29 Musical talent hereditary for MacIntyre and his siblings Continued from page 27 "Oakville is really where I got my start in my musical training and I couldn't have loved it more living there," he said. "I was so sad when we left." Although MacIntyre's solo career has always been a priority, he is a proud member of the MacIntyre Family Singers, which also includes brother Todd, 20, sister Katelyn, 17 and mom Carole. Their dad, Doug, isn't part of ensemble, but is their number 1 fan. "We make fun of him in our show, saying he auditions every year but doesn't make the cut," he said. "He's great and he's almost always with us on tour." The majority of the concert in Oakville on Sunday will feature the family's music, which MacIntyre said will appeal to a wide variety of music lovers. MacIntyre will, of course, also be performing several solo numbers. "The concert will range from a cappella jazz to gospel to classical," he said. "I do a lot with them at the piano while I sing. I will also be performing a lot of pop music, so the show will offer something for everyone." MacIntyre said he is currently focusing on developing a solo career as a pianist, singer and songwriter in the pop music industry. He has a manager based in Los Angeles who also represents Jason Mraz. He has also created a demo and is farming it to record labels. He says his sound is a combination of top acts in the pop/adult contemporary stream. "I would compare my sound to John Mayer meets Ben Folds with a little bit of Elton John thrown in," he said. "Because my piano technique is rooted in the classical tradition, I bring a lot to the pop genre that you don't hear in other pop pianists like Ben Folds or Billy Joel."
