It is estimated that in Canada there will be 4,600 cases of melanoma skin cancer and 73,000 cases of non-melanoma skin cancer diagnosed this year. Skin cancer is the uncontrolled growth of skin cells. If left unchecked, these cancer cells can spread into other tissues and organs. Since skin cancer generally develops in the outermost layers of skin, it is usually clearly visible and easy to detect. Certain types of skin cancer can be deadly, but with early detection and proper treatment it is highly curable. Dermatologists recommend everyone learn how to recognize the signs of skin cancer. Sapra will speak about the signs of skin cancer and how to reduce your risk. To reserve a seat call 905-338-4379 or 905-873-0111, ext. 4379 or email elittle@haltonhealthcare.on.ca.
