12 - The Oakville Beaver, Friday May 23, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Walk, run or pledge in support of OTMH at the Classic Fitness and fun combine for a great cause on Sunday, June 15 as Oak-Land Ford Lincoln presents the 12th annual OTMH Classic in support of the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH). The event will begin at 7:15 a.m. at Wallace Park. It will wrap up with a complimentary Father's Day Breakfast onsite at 9:30 a.m. "This is a wonderful opportunity for families to celebrate Father's Day while making a difference in the community," said OTMH Classic Committee co-chair, Steve Diamond. "The Foundation is thankful for the long-standing support of Oak-Land Ford Lincoln," said Diamond. Funds raised will be used to purchase vital medical equipment for the hospital, including the cardiology department, an area experiencing tremendous growth. The OTMH Classic Walk/Run has something for the entire family including a children's activity area, 1km Children's Fun Run, 5km Run, 5km Power Walk and 3km Walk. The Top Fundraising Team, Top Online Fundraiser and Top Adult and Youth Fundraiser will all receive gift cards, courtesy of RONA and Whole Foods. In keeping with the Father's Day event, prizes this year have a family focus. Dad would be thrilled to update his workshop from the huge selection of items at RONA or to select some top quality meats and treats for the family barbeque from Whole Foods. Families can connect and celebrate after the event while enjoying a Father's Day breakfast compliments of Longo's, Catered Fare and McDonald's. One Oakville family recognizes the importance of supporting their local hospital. Young Cameron Pike is glad that his mother's emergency visit to OTMH more than nine years ago had a favourable outcome. "A long time ago, before I was born, my mom was having trouble breathing so my dad called 911. They came right away and took her to the hospital. They didn't think that my mom was going to make it but they saved her life and now it's my time to repay them," said Cameron. Since then the OTMH Classic has become a Pike family tradition and eight-year-old Cameron is one of this year's top fundraisers with more than $1,100 pledged to date. "I think that they would be very nice to use their Father's Day to help out. Anyone who helps out the hospital is a very good and generous person," said Cameron. Join the Pike family on June 15 and register now at www.otmhclassic.com or in the OTMH Main Lobby, 327 Reynolds St., Oak-Land Ford Lincoln, 570 Trafalgar Rd. or The Running Room, 156 Lakeshore Rd. E. Start collecting pledges today for a chance to win a prize. Raise $50 and your name will be entered to win a backyard makeover with a new top of the line barbecue and patio set. "Government funding is simply not sufficient to sustain our hospital. The OTMH Classic ensures residents receive the services and treatment they deserve and expect." said Allen Wightman, executive director and vice president of development at Oakville Hospital Foundation.
