The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday May 28, 2008 - 33 Jones, Dodge honoured Oakville's Kyle Jones was named the Triathlon Canada under-23 Olympic distance male triathlete of the year for 2007. Jones finished fourth at the Pan American Games and finished in the top 20 in all three World Cup races. Next month Jones will be vying for a spot on the Canadian Olympic team when he races at the world championships in Vancouver June 8. Dodge named to academic team The accolades keep coming for Oakville's Nick Dodge. Dodge, a senior forward on the Clarkson Knights hockey team, was named to the ESPN the Magazine academic all-district team for the second year in a row. Earlier this year, Dodge, Clarkson's captain, was named the East Coast Athletic Conference's top defensive forward. Dodge had 26 points in 39 games this season. He had 124 points in 150 career games. BANDITS WIN IN MISSISSAUGA: The Oakville Under-15 Bandits defeated Scarbourough in the final to win the Mississauga invitational Tournament. The team was undefeated in five games, scoring 16 goals and allowing just two. PHOTO CONTEST WINNER Pine Grove edges Heritage Glen for overall title at Collier meet Hong, Carabott each claim victory in three events Heritage Glen won two pennants but it was Pine Grove that took the overall title at the Collier Track and Field Meet, edging their rivals by just three points. Pine Grove earned 313 points in the six divisions while Heritage Glen had 310. Pilgrim Wood was third. Tommy Hong won three events to lead Pine Grove to its lone pennant, taking the senior boys' division. Heritage Glen won two pennants, one of them by just half a point. Jocelyn Carabott won three events and Julia Lombardi took two to lead Heritage Glen to a convincing victory in the senior girls' division. Heritage Glen finished with 96 points, more than double its nearest rival. Heritage Glen's victory in the intermediate boys' division was much closer as it finished with 53 points, a half point more than Pilgrim Wood. Joshua Creek, led by Sarah Serwatuk's two victories won the junior girls pennant. Courtney den Elzen chalked up two wins to help Pilgrim Wood win the intermediate girls title.
