Although the two teams tied in the regular season, OT was determined not to surrender its title, winning 43-5. For the Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils, there's no good time to lose a rugby game. Surrendering the Halton title in the year the school is celebrating its 100th anniversary -- that was out of the question. And OT made sure that wasn't going to happen as it delivered its best game of the season to beat the T.A. Blakelock Tigers 43-5 to win its 37th Halton senior boys championship in the last 38 years. There was no shortage of motivation for OT Wednesday at Sherwood Park in Burlington. First off, the seniors had just watched OT get upset by Notre Dame in junior final. Then there were some remarks on a Tigers' Facebook page to which OT took exception. The biggest motivator, though, was for the first time in many years, there was actually an element of doubt heading into the Halton championship. Blakelock had tied OT 5-5 early in the season, a rare blemish on OT's usually spotless record. "We were disappointed and we had a point to prove after that early-season game," said OT coach David Schaffler. "We did not want to be the team to not win," said David Slattery, who scored three tries. "One of my teachers was on the team that didn't win and he said it was the worst feeling."
