James edge Georgetown's Centennial for the junior girls' pennant at the Halton District School Board's Ortwein Track and Field Meet. Greer ran to a convincing victory in the 800-metre race. Her winning time of two minutes, 42.14 seconds was seven seconds better than her nearest rival. Greer also won the 1500m, taking first in 5:37.75. Her third victory came in the triple jump, where she leaped 8.31m. Those three wins boosted E.J. James' point total to 54, helping them beat Centennial by two points. E.J. James was the only Oakville school to participate in the eight-school meet, which was for Grades 6-8 for schools with largest student populations. Yousef Elsohemy (intermediate boys' 400m, 800m) and Alyssa Bull (intermediate girls' 800m, 1500m) were double event winners. Top three finishers from E.J. James were: Junior girls 800m: 1. Stamps rout Bucs in football opener Trevor Reid and Oakville's Declan Cross each scored a pair of touchdowns as the Burlington peewee Stampeders rolled to a 34-0 victory over the York Simcoe Junior Bucs in their South Central Ontario Football League season opener. Cross caught a TD pass from quarterback Will Finch and ran for another major. Reid caught two touchdown passes and led all receivers with 89 yards. Oakville's Dylan Tuske led the ground attack, racking up 183 yards on 15 carries. The offensive line opened up huge holes for the Stampeders' rushing game, which gained almost 300 yards, and also did not allow a single sack. In total, the Stampeders gained more than 400 yards on offence. The Stamps' defence was equally dominant, allowing York Simcoe just 47 yards of offence in the game. Post to make Canadian ring debut Saturday Oakville's Mike 'PrimeTime' Post will make his Canadian debut this Saturday against Ruben `The Warrior' Galvan at the Brantford Civic Centre.
