The Post's Corners student, after learning about Terry Fox at school and being inspired by Fox's story, decided to create his own campaign in an effort to help make a difference. He then ran daily in a park near his home, collecting pledges from friends, family and neighbours for his running. Adam and his mom Sharon stopped by the Oakville Unit to deliver the proceeds -- and since then Adam has continued his daily running and has raised another $52 toward his next donation. Ice cream in Ward 1 As a way to enjoy summer and address any public questions or concerns, Ward 1 Councillors Alan Johnston and Ralph Robinson invite Oakville residents to Ward One's fifth annual summer Ice Cream Meet and Greet at the Bronte Butterfly Gazebo. Oakville Fire Chief Richard Boyes and Halton Regional Police Chief Gary Crowell will also be dropping by. The event will be Saturday, June 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Bronte Butterfly Foundation Gazebo (Bronte Heritage Waterfront Park, Ontario Street). Kids can check out a fire truck, get their faces painted and get a free balloon. Numerous community groups will also be on hand including: Bronte Historical Society, Bronte Village BIA, Bronte Village Residents' Association, GreenTrans, Ground Breakers Oakville, Halton Regional Waste Management, Halton Multicultural Council, Lakeshore Woods Residents Association, Oakvillegreen, Oakville Harbours Advisory Committee, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, and information on the new pesticide bylaw.
