www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Friday June 13, 2008 - 57 Discover `Pegasus', the newest European Gift and Home store Downtown Oakville featuring European glassware, tablecloths, jewelry, porcelain and more Pegasus is already attracting a lot of attention. Third time is a charm for Milena Gardynski. And the first and the second. In the gift and home store business, Gardynski is on a roll. Pegasus, at 232 Lakeshore Rd. E. (near Trafalgar Road), is the latest addition to the two successful shops the young entrepreneur already owns in Mississauga and Brampton. Focused on featuring European glassware, tablecloths, jewelry, porcelain and more Pegasus is already attracting a lot of attention. "We've found that we have created a niche for European home and giftware," said Gardynski, "and people really love it." She is optimistic about this latest local shop, considering the ease it took to open it. Her mom went out for a walk, saw the commercial vacancy on Lakeshore and Trafalgar and in short measure Pegasus was ready to welcome customers by the long weekend in May. But then again, this duo has always made entrepreneurialism look easy. Five years ago, while still in university, she and her mom, Teresa, set up their first shop in Mississauga. Despite the workload of her studies, she hovered in between the worlds of academia and business while Teresa ran the day-to-day tasks. "Just as I was then, again with the Oakville shop I'm happy, excited and scared at the same time," said Gardynski. The best part of the job is finding the conversation piece worthy items to stock. The pair travels to trade shows in Europe and search out local artisans. The response has been positive already, with a build up of regulars and curious shoppers alike."People come in looking for shoes, because there was a shoe shop here before, and usually leave with a table cloth in hand," said Gardynski. The store is the namesake of her previous job, a bookstore. "the store that I worked at while going to school has thrived so I figured Pegasus would be good luck for us too."
