Crashes claim teens' lives Most of us are lucky enough to go through life without knowing first-hand the trauma of a serious collision. The roads can be a treacherous place and without proper training, the odds of a collision increases dramatically. For this reason, Tim Danter the owner of All Dominion Driver Training and Traffic Education Centres Limited who had been operating as franchisees of the Premium Branded Driver Training Company of Canada for the past 18 years in Oakville, and has recently switched to offering the MTO approved DriveWise program has taken defensive driving, which we have been teaching for years, to the next level." Just teaching the basics to get the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) certificate is not good enough anymore. We need to equip our youth for all the potential hazards facing them on the roadways today. The DriveWise program incorporates state-of-the-art, virtual reality, driving simulation with hands-on instruction into the 25 hours of classroom time as stipulated by the MTO. Those same concepts are then reinforced when the students trains 1-on-1 invehicle for 10 hours with one of their highly trained driving instructors. "We're trying to reinforce the materials three times, through three different stimulus," explains Danter. The way students learn today has changed dramatically. Every aspect of training needs to be interactive. The students have always enjoyed the in-vehicle portion of our Advertorial by DriveWise literally puts your teen behind the wheel of a car in a much safer setting, allowing them to experience a host of driving situations and conditions without the actual danger. Danter also explains that teens today are accustomed to this kind of virtually learning environment. "Teens are demanding to learn this way," he says. "It needs to be interactive!" The DriveWise program, developed by a former military officer Lesley de Repentigny of Barrie, Ontario, aims to teach students with a multi-faceted approach. Lesley spent much of her post-military career in the Aerospace Industry. "In aerospace, we rely heavily on simulation for a lot of our training needs," says Leslie. "If we won't allow our pilots to fly an aircraft without simulation training, why then are we putting our youth behind the wheel of a automobile without first training them on a simulator?" With vast experience and dedication to road safety as well as road safety education, Tim Danter and his DriveWise team are looking forward to helping keep our Oakville roadways and more specifically new driver's safe and collision free in the years to come. Visit the DriveWise website at www.drivewisecanada.com or locally at www.drivewiseoakville.com for more information about the program or call 905-845-7200 to find out about class times in Oakville. program because they were interacting hands-on in the vehicle. The classroom portion is the foundation where all of the defensive driving concepts are developed. If the students are not engaged in the learning environment, then those concepts, so vital for survival on our roadways, are NOT being transferred to them effectively. "We can do things with our students on the simulator that just couldn't safely be trained for in any other way" says Danter. From different weather conditions such as blizzards, fog, high winds and rain, to driving with many different impairments and every imaginable disaster in between.
