Five local galleries are taking part in the Ontario Society of Artists' (OSA) summer exhibition called OSA in the GTA. This is a new initiative for the OSA, with four Toronto galleries, one Sunderland gallery and five Oakville galleries taking part. The Oakville galleries have come together to present the show locally until July 20. Local galleries participating in the show are: · Abbozzo Gallery, 179 Lakeshore Rd. E. Oakville Galleries is holding an event called Conversations on the Porch in conjunction with its current exhibition, Mnemonic Devices. The program is designed to bring Oakville together to spend an evening by the lake listening to published authors and sharing stories about the past. Conversations on the Porch brings back the old summer tradition of spending evenings with family and friends on the porch and focuses on memory and the process that allows individuals, families and communities to create history and mythology. The event will be held on July 15 at 7:30 p.m. It will be hosted by Kristen den Hartog and Tracy Kasaboski, co-authors of the novel, The Occupied Garden (www.theoccupiedgarden.com).
