That's when you will be able to catch a glimpse of -- or get up close to -- classic Ford Mustangs and Shelby Mustangs as the Golden Horseshoe Mustang Association (GHMA) hosts the No Borders InterNationals Mustang Show. "It's a big deal," said Oakville resident George O'Hearn, vice president and show committee co-chair of the GHMA. Running from Aug. 1-3, the show is billed as the largest-ever, all-years Mustang show in Canada. It's also a first in Canada. The local club, along with Ford of Canada and the Mustang Club of America (MCA), is hosting the the first MCA national level show ever held outside the continental United States. It will bring the famous "pony" cars with the even more famous front grille that bears the chrome wild horse to town. "MCA holds five major shows each year in the U.S. However, we are privileged to be holding the first MCA national level show ever held outside the continental U.S. It's also the first show of its kind ever held on Ford property," said O'Hearn, a Nova Scotia native, who has made his home in Oakville for nearly 40 years. The local club has been applying for four years to get the show here. Not only did the MCA have to be convinced to let the show outside the U.S., but Ford, corporately in the U.S., had to be sold. According to O'Hearn, the local Ford officials weren't a tough sell, but a final blessing had to come from a vice-president in Michigan.
