Over this weekend you will experience 23 of today's top Jazz performers brought to you free of charge by the businesses of downtown Oakville and our generous sponsors. The Downtown Oakville Jazz Festival has attracted amazing artists in the past and this year is no different. On Friday, come out and listen to Flamenco Jazz with The Café Ole, at Centennial Square from 7:30 ­ 9p.m.. This group joins the exotic and passionate music of Spanish flamenco with artistry of North American Jazz. Stick around and enjoy a fabulous Jazz performance from 10 ­ 11:30 by Kollage who were nominees at the National Jazz Awards in 2005, 2006 and 2007 for Acoustic Group of the year. A special treat for your Friday night at Towne Square from 8-9:30, be sure to hear double Juno Award recipient Christopher Plock perform with Glenn Anderson. This dynamic and entertaining duo will knock your socks off! Whether he is leading his trio or his full six piece band, Christopher always puts on a great show. Saturday's lineup is filled to the brim with more amazing artists. Starting off your day are The River Pilots at 2p.m. at Centennial Square. An instrumental quartet with an eclectic sound that'll take your imagination on a journey across the globe and beyond. Be sure to hear our future stars at the `Bell Youth in the Spotlight' on the Towne Square stage starting at 2:30 p.m. Youth in the Spotlight is truly a highlight for many to hear the future stars of our time. For those interested in more traditional music, enjoy the sounds of a Dixie land band, with the Red Peppers. Two performances at acoustic stage two on Lakeshore, 6:30 and again at 9pm. Downtown Oakville extends a welcome return for musician and performer, Carlos Del Junco with his exceptional talent on harmonica. The sophisticated sound produced by Del Junco is at once sensitive, soulful, and sexy while never forgetting the rawness inherent in blues music. Carlos is a Juno Nominee, and multiple time winner at the Toronto Blues Society's Maple Leaf Blues Award (5 out of 8 years of awards). Carlos will be performing at the Centennial Square stage on Saturday from 7:30 - 9:pm. Sunday rounds out the Free Festival, with many amazing artists to choose from. At Centennial Square, performances start with Son Roberts at 1pm, followed by Sue Foley at 3:30 pm. Sue Foley is considered to be one of the finest blues/roots artists performing today. She has recorded with, shared a stage with, and opened up for amazing talent such as B.B. King, Buddy Guy, George Thorogood, Tom Petty, Joe Cocker, Rufus Thomas, Bill Doggett, Pinetop Perkins, Joe Ely, Chuck Rainey and Lucinda Williams ­ to name a few. Over on Towne Square stage, performances start with Big Rude Jake at 1pm. Jake's early stylings combined his interest in traditional jazz, jump blues, rockabilly and punk with an explosive stage presence. A little more sedate now, Jake is still bringing his love of true Jazz to the stage. And finally, presenting internationally acclaimed acclaimed singer and pianist, Carol Welsman performing at 3:30 pm. Her expressive vocal stylings and dynamic stage presence have captivated audiences around the world selling over 60,000 recordings to date. Carol is a real treat to close out the festival.
