The car was parked in the driveway of a private residence at the time of the break-in. Halton police stress the theft appears to be a random criminal act and that the special constable was not targeted. The suspect or suspects stole a General Electric two-way police radio (now deactivat- ed), a blue bulletproof vest, a duty belt, an expandable baton, a canister of pepper spray, court security access card, Smith and Wesson handcuffs and key and a duty book. The theft did not include a gun since special constables don't carry firearms. On Friday, Halton police reported the bulletproof vest, notebook and a court security pass had been recovered in a neighbour's backyard.
