The Bronte Butterfly Foundation (BBF) was incorporated in 1999 and became a registered charity shortly afterwards. According to the annual tax reports filed with the Canadian Revenue Agency, the foundation had more than $1 million in revenues from 2000-07, but spent nearly as much. In eight years, the foundation generated revenues totaling $1,074,971, but it had also incurred expenditures totaling $1,039,187 with administrative costs reaching $503,350. The revenues included $350,000 in provincial grants and another $127,000 in donations.
