www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver, Wednesday September 3, 2008 - 3 Man impaled while trimming tree A 30-year-old Oakville man was impaled on a cut tree branch after falling at least 16 metres from a tree he was helping a neighbour trim over the weekend. The impaled man was taken to the Hamilton General Hospital just before 5 p.m. Sunday and is expected to survive, said Sergeant Julie Craddock-Bijl of the Halton Regional Police. He was transported to hospital by ambulance and admitted into the intensive care unit. This incident serves as an unfortunate reminder that people should exercise caution when trimming trees or working from heights, Craddock-Bijl said. "People who aren't familiar (with working from heights) shouldn't do it at all, or should ensure they have the proper safety equipment," Craddock-Bijl said. "We would advise people to either use professionals or ensure they have the proper safety equipment to do this type of work." --Torstar News Service www.oakvillebeaver.com ADVERTORIAL Who Are You Sleeping With?
