"We'll be discussing the mosque's expansion with the Town," he explained. "We'll give them our site proposal and once approved we can start with the construction phases." According to Solaiman the construction of the mosque and commercial centre will take anywhere between one to two years. Construction of a school and old age home will follow. "We are confident that the city will approve because we are approaching it (the building of the mosque) with the idea that this project belongs to the people of Oakville," said Solaiman. "The city will hopefully be championing this initiative." The 20 executive members of the development committee plan to complete the construction of the mosque, which is located on 2478 Ninth Line, by 2011. "We hope to coincide the construction phase with the widening of Ninth Line," he said. The widening of Ninth Line will make it easier for cars to come in and out of the mosque, noted Solaiman. He also added that while the expansion is anticipated to attract more than 800 new people to the mosque, traffic congestion will not be a problem. That's because the developmental committee plans to have a separate entrance and exit for cars coming in and out of the mosque. Solaiman anticipates the entire project to be completed by 2016.
