8- The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday September 20, 2008 www.oakvillebeaver.com Time to register for Amazing Race Against Time Hello Oakville from Halla. Today's column is about the fun of running and about the challenge of finding solutions to the African AIDS crisis before too many more humans have died. My sister, brother and I love to run and play when our herd is crossing the Savannah, but my grandmother worries when we run too far ahead or outside our circle. After all, there are lions, and when we play by the water, we have to watch out and keep our wits about us. My grandmother's advice also applies when you consider participating in the Oakville Amazing Race Against Time. If you have not seen the television show, you might think less about running fast, and more about the opportunity to work together as a team helping to raise money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation. You can even walk if you want, if you remember that your ability to solve clues will empower you to win, more than speed. Please sign up to take part in the Amazing Race Against Time, and register as soon as possible. Gillian Zimmerman and her great team reminded me that for Sunday, Sept. 28th , for a registration fee of $25 per person, a team of four racers can compete among a total number of fifty teams. Each team member must also commit to raising another $75. You can provide the donation yourself, or find sponsors. The Oakville Amazing Race Against Time will be very exciting as each teams visits seven exciting Oakville destinations between Appleby College and downtown, between noon and 5 p.m., by finding and then following the clues of the game. Stephen Lewis' daughter Ilana Landsberg-Lewis will speak at the end of the day, and there will be some endof-game refreshments and entertainment for all. Register asap, so please connect with amazingraceagainsttime@gmail.com for details. Get your runners or comfortable walking shoes out and get involved today. I will be checking it out throughout the day, and I look forward to who has the brains and feet to win. But watch out for lions and crocodiles.
