She volunteered her time and many of her 2008 calendars, entitled "It's Just Running" produced by the Ontario Roadrunners' Association, to Krista LoCicero's Grade 10 Business class at Abbey Park High School. As part of their class assignment, each student was required to set a price for their product, prepare a marketing pitch and develop the best location for product sales. Three special students -- Melissa Young, Lauren Eckert and Lauren Whyte worked together to sell the calendars with the intention of donating 100 per cent of the proceeds to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. They raised an outstanding $685.68. Kathy writes, "The students did an amazing job," and that is exactly how SPECIAL TO THE BEAVER GREAT JOB: From left to right, Lauren Whyte, Melissa Young, and Lauren Eckert of Abbey Park High School sold calendars and donated 100 per cent of the proceeds to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. we at the YMCA feel about Winning Marketing their contribution towards Strategies for helping the their community, and their YMCA of Oakville build spirit and generosity. While the band combines celtic music with rock, bluegrass and jazz, all concert proceeds will go to support Home Suite Hope, an organization that provides housing for up to one year for those who find themselves without shelter. The members of the church believe, along with the United Nations, that the right to adequate shelter is a human right. For many, an unforeseen circumstance such as illness or marital breakdown can result in the inability to pay for housing. Home Suite Hope provides a local solution to homelessness in our community. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be provided. Tickets cost $25 and can be purchased by calling 905-825-8966.
