Local bands will compete for the title of best band and vie for prizes such as a recording time at a studio and a professional photo shoot. Sponsored by the Halton Region Museum Foundation, the Battle of the Bands outdoor concert will take place on the grass in front of the Alexander Barn at Halton Region Museum from 1 to 6 p.m. The museum is located in Kelso Conservation Area in Milton. Local bands such as District, Art of Action, Trip City, The Bad Names, Green Party, The Way-Out's and Black Shoe Collective, will take the stage, show off their skills and likely win some new fans. The concert will include an eclectic mix of genres including ska, rock, punk and alternative. There will be a special guest performance by the pop-infused ska punk band, the Johnstones. Cash prizes will be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place bands. In addition, Decibel Labs has donated three prizes: 1st Place -- 16 hours recording time, a professional photo shoot, cover page newspaper exposure and $200; 2nd Place -- 8 hours recording time and $150; 3rd Place -- 4 hours recording time and $100. The museum held its first successful outdoor concert featuring Disney musician Bret Ryan in July.
