www.oakvillebeaver.com The Oakville Beaver Weekend, Saturday October 11, 2008 - 3 Brown will spend final days of campaign knocking on doors Continued from page 2s Brown was all smiles when asked about Dion's visit. "He was here to cheer me on," she told the Beaver. "To get this country back on its feet and get it stable, this is the best man for the job." National polls for the upcoming election continue to fluctuate during this period of economic uncertainty. Statistics Canada announced Friday morning that a record 107,000 jobs were created in September. The breakdown shows that 97,000 of these jobs are part-time. Brown said that the Conservatives will not benefit from this news. "Auto workers make over $30 an hour, and these part-time jobs will be minimum wage or $10 per hour and everyone knows you cannot raise a family on a part-time job at minimum wage," Brown said. "This is the problem with losing manufacturing. We have to invest in manufacturing and Mr. Dion is saying we are going to do that." Brown said she will be spending the next few days door-knocking and speaking to members of the public. Political pundits have named Oakville as a riding to watch on Oct. 14, with many unsure if it will go red or blue. Brown, who has run in six previous federal elections, with five consecutive victories, said she is treating this campaign like all the others. "I always think it is going to be close and I always enjoy every minute of it," she said.
