Run for Hope tops $28,000 mark More than 600 runners and power walkers of all ages helped raise more than $28,000 in the third annual 5KSM Run For Hope for the Kerr Street Ministries' youth programs on Thanksgiving Monday. A record number of 520 5K runners and power walkers registered for the event, representing an increase of 90 per cent over the previous year. More than 100 children raced down Kerr Street for the 1K following the 5K Run and 5K Power Walk. All three overall male finishers broke last year's previous times, with Brendan Kenny shaving almost a minute off last year's winner, winning first place in a gun time of 15:13, Daniel Ayote, second place in 15:27, and Michael Bianchi, third place in 15:59. Peter Von Euw won the Male Master (40 and over) category with a time of 17:19, another record, taking almost 1:30 minutes off last year's Male Master.
