(1-866-953-8929) We can do without a lot of things, but the last thing to go when we're cutting back is our vacation. We feel we deserve it; we need that time to unwind and relax. I travel about 14 weeks a year, to experience destinations to help you choose the best holiday for you. Sounds like fun to you -- seems like work to me. When I'm on my holidays, I tend to want a place where I can cook a few meals, have a separate living area, fabulous swimming, an opportunity to hang out with locals and always have a choice of beach chairs no matter what time I get to the beach. For the last few years, my vacation home away from home has been in lit- PARTNERS SUCCESS IN ATHENA OAKVILLE SPONSOR PROFILE Celebrating the potential of all women as valued members and leaders of the community, and recognizing those who support them, ATHENA Oakville enters it's twelfth year. I've been coming to Honduras Shores Plantation and the Canadian management and their staff treat me like family and greet me with open arms. I like to give something back, so I teach an hour of English every day, combining volunteering with my holiday. I don't know who has more fun, me or my pupils, who work on the property. Visiting is like travelling to the past, to a time when life was simpler and joys easier to come by. The property is just at the end of the Micos Lagoon in the Jeanette Kawas National Park, considered one of the most important parks in the country. So what's new this year is a four unit condo... fabulously luxurious, with two bedrooms, two baths, huge kitchen, and living room, HD cable TV, lovely verandas that overlook a portion of an ecological lagoon with a pool right outside the door, and a three minute walk to the Caribbean Sea. The furnishings are elegant, the walls covered with original Honduran art. The price of the condo is $700 per week, $600 in March, and $450 from July to November. The one bedroom casitas are $440 weekly, while the two-bedroom, twobath casitas are $575. There is a full kitchen, and the maid comes in every day to clean and do the dishes. When it snows up north, there are many Canadians staying on the property, getting together around the pool beside the casitas for happy hour, and often meeting around the barbecue for a potluck dinner. The other gathering place is the Beach Club with a huge pool, restaurant and covered boardwalk on the beach. The restaurant has new young and very enthusiastic management. This is the slow season, and when the kitchen staff isn't cooking they're planting new gardens, building a basketball ball court, and a beach volleyball court. It is an inexpensive holiday, which is why so many Canadians go down for two or three months. I'm not sharing my special vacation spot with everyone, just you.
