The project, which dates back to 1999, was the brainchild of the Bronte Butterfly Foundation that intended to build a 210-metre winter skateway and butterfly park in the area south of the Ontario and Jones Street intersection. The endeavor never materialized with the foundation failing to raise the needed funds. Since then, the Town has stepped forward to finish the job. During the Community Services Committee meeting last Wednesday, "This is an absolutely committee members were shown wonderful thing that is going concept plans displaying three very to happen in Bronte. This consultant noted that a budget of more than $1.6 million will be needed for the development of the park plan. This amount has been put forward for consideration within the Town's current 10 Year Capital Forecast and, if approved, construction on the park could begin in 2011. Stk.#U5521 Keeping children safe near railway tracks Safe Kids Canada is once again partnering with the Canadian National Railway Company (CN) to educate Oakville students about the importance of railway safety. Last year 84 Canadians were killed in incidents involving trains, many of which, officials said, could have been prevented through rail safety education. To this end, Oct. 20-26 has been dubbed Safe Crossing Week 2008 during which CN Police will conduct trackside classrooms for elementary school children to show them how to cross railway tracks safely. School assemblies will also be held on the subject. Students are not the only ones being targeted by this program with this year's focus actually on getting parents to explain the importance of railway safety to their children. "Talk to your children about rail safety and teach them about staying safe around trains and railway tracks," said Pamela Fuselli, executive director of Safe Kids Canada. "Be aware of your child's abilities based on their age and stage of development. Younger children need to be supervised. When you walk with them use the opportunity to talk to them about rail safety. Older children can learn to make safe choices if they have been taught as they grow." This year represents significant growth for the Safe Crossing Week with more than 600 elementary schools participating, an increase from 300 schools in 2007. $ 19,495 2006 HYUNDAI SANTA FE GLS AWD, automatic, 5 dr., AM/FM stereo air, alloy wheels, Steel Blue exterior, Grey interior, 42,891km.
