Did you know 38.8 per cent of those Ontarians were children? Those were the highest numbers in the country. Worse, 22 per cent of Ontario food banks do not have enough food to meet the needs of the people who need help. Citing those statistics, Sheridan College students will hold Sheridan's first ever Halloween for Hunger event on Friday, Oct. 31. The collection will be part of Sheridan's Food Bank Drive. At 6 p.m., student volunteers dressed up in the "trick or treat" spirit will go out into the Oakville community around Sheridan College to collect non-perishable food items to be donated to local food banks, including Sheridan's own student food bank. That will include everything from good old macaroni and cheese to toiletries. Students are appealing to residents to support them in the event. Anyone interested in volunteering with this event is asked to contact Emma Alguire at emma.alguire@sheridanc.on.ca. or Joe Henry, Supervisor of Student Leadership and Engagement at joe.henry@sheridanc.on.ca New Works by Serge Brunoni October 26 - November 9 We would like to invite you to try our new facility, located at Speers Road & Kerr Street 171 Speers Road, Unit 18 Artist's reception Sunday, October 26, 2008 2:00 - 5:30 p.m. Please call to book an appointment (905) 337-3700 Offer valid from: Oct. 23rd ~ Nov. 6th *No purchase necessary offer valid once per person per year. 100 Bronte Road, #8, Oakville www.galleryrufus.com 905-339-0013
