Despite being in the bottom three the week before, Torti, 23, along with partner Jesse Catibog, was among the dancers who received the most votes from the Canadian public. Tamina Pollack-Paris, 19 and Joey Matt, 19 were the third couple of the finals to be sent home. Each week, the Canadian public votes for their favourite contestants. The Top 20 are whittle down, one couple per week, to 10 through voting numbers and judges' decisions. Once the Top 10 remain, the winner is determined by viewers' votes alone. The last one standing takes home $100,000. So You Think You Can Dance Canada airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on CTV. W., returns for the final concert of 2008, with Margot Roi from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7. Toronto-based Roi cross-pollinates traditional and contemporary standards, rearranging rhythms to create a fresh, sound. Roi studied music at the University of Windsor and vocals at the Academy of Canadian Vocals. She also studied with Bob Mover, and Mitch Seekins. Tickets cost $20, and should be ordered in advance. Cost includes patron's choice of red or white wine, and an assortment of hors d'oeuvres. To date, the Music After Eight series has raised over $2,000 for local charities. Caroline Torti Studio Tour this weekend The Oakville Art Society Studio Tour runs Nov. 1 and 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a total of 18 artists taking part in the event. Admission is free. A variety of subject matter and media will be featured, including oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolour paintings, sculpture, jewelry and pottery. Some of the artists will also be doing demonstrations of their craft. The four studio locations are Oakville Art Society (group show), 560 Bronte Rd.; Harbour Banquet and Conference Centre (group show), 2340 Ontario St.; Jon van der Hart's studio, 2420 Eighth Line and Elizabeth Elkin's studio, 2019 Grand Blvd. Free parking is available at all four sites.
