Blades attack Ajax early, bludgeon Blues late The Oakville Blades won a pair of games last weekend in contrasting fashions. The Blades scored six of the first seven goals in their game Friday against the Ajax Attack at Joshua's Creek Arenas, then cruised to an 8-4 rout. The following night, Oakville scored the final six goals of their contest in Bramalea -- all six of those markers coming in the third period -- to erase a 3-1 deficit and lift the Blades to a 7-3 win over the Blues. Ryan Murphy enjoyed a stellar evening Friday, scoring four times (including the first three goals of the contest) and adding an assist. Brendan Taylor one-upped his teammate's point total by scoring once and recording five assists. Dustin Alcock and Jeremy Welsh had the other Oakville goals. Saturday, it was Luke Moodie's turn to carry the offence as the local resident struck for four goals. Kellan Lain, Julian Cimadamore and Kyle Badham rounded out the scoring for the Blades. Ian O'Brien earned the victory in net in both games. Oakville, now 13-3 on the season and second in the Provincial Junior Hockey League's MacKinnon Division standings, is scheduled to play two more games this weekend. The Blades will visit the division rival Burlington Cougars Friday, then host the Pickering Panthers Saturday. Saturday's game at Joshua's Creek Arenas is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
