Hopedale Shopping Centre Suite 220, 2nd Floor 905-827-0301 Q: Why does my neighbour pay less than I'm paying? Q: A: My son had his braces removed and there were white spots and stripes on his teeth that were not there before the braces. Can they be removed? Braces make keeping teeth clean difficult. Soft bacterial plaque (what tooth brushing is supposed to remove) is hard to remove around braces. The accumulated bacteria have time to produce acids when exposed to sugars. This demineralizes tooth enamel. At first the demineralization changes the enamel to what you see as "white spots". If the demineralization continues, a hole or cavity in the enamel is formed. A fairly new treatment for this is to use a medication called MI PasteTM or RecaldentTM. This Casein phosphopeptide (CPP) a milk derived protein able to bind calcium and phosphate. When applied to teeth and MI PasteTM will remineralize the white spot areas and remove most and possibly all white spots. In fact using this treatment during the entire time a child has braces can help prevent plaque from being able to accumulate. It will also remineralize or reverse any areas that have started to decalcify and prevent any from occuring. We now have a therapy to reverse decay early on! This treatment is very safe, is done in dental office and at home. This therapy can also help with other causes of tooth discolouration and sensitivity. The oil slick that builds up on cabinets - especially around the handles - is a combination of kitchen grease, food smears, skin oil and hand lotion transferred to the cabinet. If your cabinets are plastic laminate (formica or other plastic), metal, painted metal or glass, you can wash them all over with a heavy-duty cleaner. Mix according to directions and apply the solution with a sponge. Let it sit a minute or two, then take a white, nylon-backed sponge and scrub wherever necessary. Remove the grimy suds from the sponge by squeezing it into the sink or a slop bucket, never back into your cleaning solution. Then rinse with a damp cloth and wipe dry with a terry cleaning cloth to remove any last traces of scum and leave the cupboards clean and glowing. Never use acids or powdered cleansers on cabinets. A good overall washing a couple of times a year should be enough. Keep a spray bottle of all-purpose cleaner handy the rest of the time and spot-clean after heavy kitchen use. On wooden cabinets, take a gentler approach. To get off stubborn dirt, wash around all handles and any other grease zones first with hand dishwashing detergent. Then wash the entire cabinet, including the handle areas, with an oil soap solution (such as Murphy's Oil Soap). Just wipe lightly with the solution and buff dry immediately with a terry cleaning cloth. Always wipe dry with any grain or pattern. Is he too old to learn anything at training school? age. Behaviour A: Dogs can learn behaviour at any agelike walk politely means anything a dog actually does on leash or come when called. They can also unlearn bad habits like bolting out the front door and jumping on people. It can sometimes be easier to teach a younger dog good behaviour because they haven't had a lot of practice and reward for undesired behaviour. That does not mean that you can't teach an old dog new tricks. In fact, older dog often learn things faster because they have more self control and are less distracted by outside factors. Re-homed dogs are an excellent example. Families come to our classes with their new adopted dogs to learn basic obedience skills. Along the way, they also build a loving relationship and stronger communication. It is never too late to teach your dog good manners.
