George, a midfielder for the Brock Badgers, was selected for the West Division first team after scoring four goals in helping her team record a 7-3-4 mark. Joining her on the West first team was another rookie, McMaster's Melanie Vanderhoop. The White Oaks grad, who plays midfield, had three goals in 14 games for the Marauders, who were undefeated until being upset in the OUA quarter-finals. Named to the OUA's second team were Katie McKenna of Queen's and Kelsey Desjarlais of York. McKenna, a fourth-year goalkeeper, backstopped the Golden Gaels to an 8-4-2 record to earn a spot on the East Division squad. Desjarlais, a rookie midfielder for York, had two goals in 13 games. Both squads finished third in their respective divisions, meaning they are the top seeds in Division 2. The top two teams in both the Poliziani and Volpe divisions (Assumption, Nelson, Notre Dame and Christ the King) will compete for a Division 1 title. "We're in the middle of it," Aquinas coach Gerry Knap said Thursday after the Raiders concluded the regular season with a 26-6 loss at Notre Dame. "It will be interesting." Aquinas finished the year with a 4-3 record. Trinity carried a 4-2 mark into yesterday's (Friday's) season finale at Assumption, but had already been guaranteed a third-place finish in the Poliziani Division. Aquinas and Trinity's first-round opponents had yet to be determined as of yesterday. The Division 2 quarter-final contests will be contested Wednesday. Trinity is the only local team that remains alive in the junior Division 1 playoffs, after T.A. Blakelock was eliminated from the postseason Thursday with a 15-0 loss at Notre Dame. The Titans will host Notre Dame next week in the semifinal round. Assumption will visit Nelson in the other semifinal game. Girls' basketball Aquinas was the lone Oakville survivor in Thursday's opening round of the senior girls' basketball Division 2 playoffs. Taryn McKenna scored 12 points to lead the Raiders to a 44-11 victory over the E.C. Drury Spartans at Aquinas. King's Christian Collegiate fell 45-11 to Lester B. Pearson and White Oaks lost 45-24 to Burlington Central in the other quarter-final games involving local schools. Aquinas will visit Central and Milton will host Pearson in the regional semis Monday. The Halton Division 2 final is slated for Thursday at Sheridan College. Senior Division 1 playoffs began yesterday. In junior Division 2, the White Oaks Wildcats will be home to Burlington Central Monday in semifinal action. White Oaks enjoyed a bye in the opening round. Boys' volleyball Senior boys' volleyball Division 1 playoffs begin Monday as Oakville Trafalgar is home to M.M. Robinson and Loyola visits Holy Trinity. Division 2 playoffs started yesterday, including King's Christian at Aquinas and White Oaks at Pearson. In junior Division 1 playoffs Monday, Abbey Park will travel to Georgetown, Iroquois Ridge will host Nelson, Blakelock will visit Loyola and Assumption will entertain OT. Aquinas hosted King's and White Oaks played Acton in Division 2 playoff action yesterday.
