I t is not uncommon to find a student mumbling about a bad grade or vexed because of approaching midterms. Whether it is about raising an average or continuing to break records for class marks, it seems as though everyone complains one way or another about low grades. Being down on yourself though is not particularly positive and certainly won't lead to attaining your dreams. We hear, far and wide, that good marks will guarantee a good job, life, etc. Not far along the path of school though, we may encounter a slip up or a class we just can't seem to get. No problem. Not everyone can get high marks right away and there are plenty of ways to work up to it. As they say, aim for the stars and you'll fall on the moon. Don't feel bad if you don't get what you want at once. Everyone is equipped with different skills and strengths, and it's what we Fundraiser on stage at IRHS Sunday The Really Real Adventures of Scott Free and Will Do will hit the stage at Iroquois Ridge High School on Sunday, Nov. 9. For example, a person may be very proficient at drawing, but desires to be adept at mathematics. The same goes for a project-gone-bad in a subject area in which you usually exceed expectations. You might be shocked for the first few seconds, although once you dry the tears and figure out what when wrong, you may learn a valuable lesson. Don't ever be afraid to ask your teachers or peers for help, and help yourself by researching and seeking out resources to aid your studies. Even a genius cannot live without seeking assistance from another individual. I've never heard of an intellectual superstar who's never had a doctor's appoint- ment or gone to the dentist. The sooner you start to listen and learn from other people, the faster and easier it is to absorb information. Last, but not least, if you aren't the top scorer in the class or the "smartest," don't worry that you won't make it out there. Our years of schooling give us the basic tools to live in the modern age and it is most important to find a cause or subject to which you can dedicate yourself. For example, if you know that you can't stop writing on the weekend, that may indicate that you should be a writer. Giving up on your dreams will only dampen your hopes of living a good future, and you will only get better with more training, diligence and experience. Be a Winner!
