Jenner nets winner at U18 girls' nationals Oakville's Brianne Jenner scored on a breakaway in double overtime as Ontario Red claimed the National Women's Under-18 championship Sunday in Napanee. A turnover in the neutral zone sent Jenner alone on Roxanne Douville and she snapped a shot past the Quebec goalie, giving Ontario Red its fifth straight national title. "I had so many chances in this game," Jenner said. "I was thinking `shoot' when I had the breakaway because I messed up on the deke earlier." Jenner led Ontario Red in scoring and was third in the tournament with three goals and three assists. All three of her goals were game winners, including another overtime goal in a 2-1 win over Ontario Red in the first preliminary game. Oakville's Hayleigh Cudmore had four assists -- including two in Ontario Red's 5-2 semifinal victory over Manitoba -- in the five games. Ontario Blue, which included Oakville's Nicole Paniccia and Aurora Kennedy, narrowly missed a trip to the final after Quebec won the other semifinal 5-4 in overtime. Ontario Blue had tied the game in the final minute of regulation. Ontario Blue then lost 3-1 to Manitoba in the bronze-medal game. Cann, a second-round draft pick of the Colorado Avalanche, posted a 3.08 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage while going 5-5-0 with a shutout for the Petes this season. He played 143 games during his four seasons in Peterbourgh, and was a member of the Petes team that beat London in the 2006 OHL final to earn a spot in the Memorial Cup tournament. Cann has led the Canadian world under-18 team to a Reduce Reuse Recycle
