Oakville, which defeated the Vaughan Vipers 5-2 Friday at Joshua's Creek Arenas and then downed the Ajax Attack Sunday afternoon in Ajax, improved to 18-3 on the season. The Blades and Burlington Cougars are tied for the MacKinnon Division lead with 36 points each, although the Blades hold two games in hand on the Cougars. Jeremy Welsh and Chris Rocca each scored twice against Vaughan, with Rocca's second marker standing up as the game winner. Dustin Alcock also scored for Oakville, which trailed 2-0 by the midway point of the third period. Luke Moodie had two assists and Matt Hache stopped 18 of 20 shots to record the win. Sunday, the Blades got a fourpoint effort from Moodie (two goals, two assists) as well as two goals and a helper from Julian Cimadamore. Kellan Lain also tallied twice, with Welsh rounding out the scoring. Ian O'Brien earned the victory in goal. Oakville will host the Mississauga Chargers Friday (7:30 p.m. start at Joshua's Creek Arenas), then travel to Georgetown Saturday for a showdown with the 16-3-1 Raiders. MOVING UP: The Oakville Predators under-14 boys' soccer team was presented with medals and a trophy after being promoted to the Ontario Youth Soccer League. U14 Predators earn promotion The Oakville Predators are the first-ever Oakville Soccer Club boys' B team to qualify for the Ontario Youth Soccer League (OYSL). The under-14 squad earned promotion to the OYSL by winning the elite division of the South Region Soccer League this past summer, one year after being promoted from the Premier Division. Oakville players and coaches were presented recently with medals and a trophy to recognize their advancement. Members of the team are Ryan Cookish, Nick Hache, Chris Hache, Austin Wright, Michael Azim, Yousef Elsohemy, Tommy Hong, Berkin Cetin, Gianni Zorbas, Trevor Hoff, Kevin MacArthur, Jamie Leveridge, Misha Vorontyntsev, Adam Soares, Hongio Kim, Matthew Smith, Mikey Owen and Adam Traynor. John Leveridge and Brian MacArthur coach the team, Jody Losch is the manager and Rob Cookish is the trainer.
