That is the question, which many residents responded to with a definitive no, on Tuesday, during a meeting of the Town of Oakville 2009 budget committee. The committee listened to 10 delegations throughout the morning with the majority voicing objections to service cuts proposed by town staff. Pam De Moss, speaking on behalf of the swimming group Catch the Wave, called on the committee not to confirm budget reduction options that would see the closure Oakville's public outdoor pools. The first option would see the town save $225,200 per year by closing the Lion's, Falgarwood, Bronte, Brookdale and Wedgewood pools. A second option would save the town $90,090 per year by closing just the Wedgewood and Bronte pools while a third option would save the town $45,040 by closing just the Wedgewood pool.
