The injury-depleted Rangers recruited two alternate players, Blake Stewart and John Carney, for the tournament. The Hound Dogs then avenged their loss to Port Credit with a 1-0 win over the Storm in the final game. Matthew Reesor scored the only goal in the final, assisted by Patrick Gamble and Luke DiBenedetto. Griffin Wallace-Higgs earned the shutout, his second of the tournament. Cameron Elliott (two), Graham Wigley and Keven Mastri had Oakville's other goals in the tournament. On top of compiling a 12-2-3 record in league play, the Rangers have also raised money for charitable causes. The team recently organized a car wash in support of children's charity Kids in Sport. The event raised more than $1,000 in honour of Barrie teenager Brandon Crisp, who passed away earlier this month. Oakville Chrysler Dodge Ltd. donated hot dogs and the use of its service bays for the car wash, which was managed by Jolanda Rettinger. The Rangers were also one of eight teams that earned the opportunity to play road hockey in downtown Toronto with Wayne Gretzky earlier this season.
