The study is being undertaken in accordance with Schedule `C' of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (2007) which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. McCormick Rankin Corporation has been retained to assist with the study. The first Public Information Centre (PIC #1) was held on June 18, 2008 to review the transportation need and justification for the grade separation and other improvements, an assessment of alternative solutions, and the grade separation alternatives. Following PIC #1, preliminary alternatives were developed for the proposed grade separation and widening of Kerr Street to four lanes between Shepherd Road and approximately 100 m north of the QEW. This second Public Information Centre (PIC) has been arranged to review and obtain public comments with regard to the evaluation and identification of the technically preferred alternative. Members of the project team and display materials will be available from 5 p.m., with a presentation at 6 p.m. and discussion to follow. COMMUNITY INFORMATION MEETING Proposed Youth Centre for Bronte Wednesday, December 10, 2008 7 to 9 p.m. Bronte Legion, 79 Jones Street A proposed youth centre for Bronte is expected to open at Bronte Plaza, 2296 Lakeshore Road West in early 2009. The Town of Oakville will be hosting a community information meeting led by Mayor Rob Burton and Ward 1 Councillors Alan Johnston and Ralph Robinson to outline the programs, services and specifics planned for this youth initiative. This proposed space is intended to be a welcoming environment where youth can take part in a diverse range of specialized programs, services and positive recreational activities. The goal is to offer youth an opportunity to socialize in a designated and supervised "youth only" setting that also provides such integrated services as education and career counseling. The need for this proposed youth centre was brought forward to the Town by members of the Bronte Consultation Committee with support from Councillors Alan Johnston and Ralph Robinson, the Oakville Youth Advisory Committee, and the Halton Regional Police. In response, the Town conducted a feasibility study in the spring which reinforced the need for additional youth focused space in Bronte.
