It was Dec. 6, 1989 that a gunman confronted 60 engineering students at l'Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on the last day of the term. Brandishing a rifle, the man began a 45-minute shooting rampage. He killed 14 women, injured 13 and killed himself. Memorials are held every year in cities across the country. The vigil in Oakville will include speaker, candle lighting and blessings. It will take place at 11 a.m. at The Women's Centre located at Hopedale Mall, Suite 229, 1515 Rebecca St. For more information, call 905-847-9104.
