HOLIDAY SPECIAL Three accidents connected to impaired driving charge A Mississauga woman has been charged with impaired driving in connection with three accidents within minutes of each other in Oakville on Wednesday. Halton Regional Police said the first of three accidents occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m. Police classified the accident on Trafalgar Road as minor with no one injured. However, one driver had fled the scene in a car. This scenario was repeated 30 minutes later on Trafalgar Road at the QEW where another collision occurred. One vehicle seen leaving the scene fit the description of the vehicle that left the first accident. No injuries occurred at this collision, either. The incident came to an end at 7 p.m. when a Halton Regional Police officer spotted the suspect vehicle, a grey 2006 Mazda, drive through a red light at an intersection on Speers Road. The vehicle continued through the intersection where it mounted a curb and came to rest on a grassy area adjacent to the roadway. The driver of the vehicle, Janis Gauthier, 53, of Mississauga was arrested at the scene and charged with impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with blood alcohol over 80 milligrams and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
