One tractor trailer (above) jackknifed and straddled the lane, while a woman (below) had to be extricated from the SUV. Blame it on winter Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say Wednesday's early morning winter weather may have been a contributing factor in an accident that resulted in the blocking of the eastbound lane of the QEW, just east of Burloak Drive, for more than an hour. Police said two tractor-trailers and an SUV were involved in the accident, which took place at around 3:30 a.m. One of the large trucks went partially into a ditch while the second jackknifed, blocking all of the eastbound lanes and striking an SUV. The female driver of the SUV was initially trapped in her vehicle, but was extricated by emergency personnel and taken to OakvilleTrafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH) with nonlife threatening injuries. The two truck drivers were not harmed. The eastbound lane of the QEW reopened at around 5 a.m. The OPP is continuing to investigate this incident.
