"Our final tally is $100,258.94, just shy of our goal of $105,000," said Aisha Chaney, community services co-ordinator for the Oakville Salvation Army. The campaign really picked up speed in the week just before Christmas after a difficult start. In fact, with just under a week before it wrapped up on Christmas Eve, the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign had nearly half of its fundraising goal to meet. It had raised just over $56,000. By the time the final week was over, the tally was $105,000. "Although short of our goal, we are quite pleased with such a high result in a time when members of the general public are monitoring their pocketbooks more closely than they have needed to in quite some time," said Chaney. "This concept of such strong support and a sense of community is most encouraging as we enter this New Year," added Chaney.
